The VIS GmbH in Halberstadt stands for 180-year long production experience and performance competence
in rail vehicle construction. From its modest start in 1843, the company developed itself over the repair of passenger and freight cars, steam locomotives and even the production of new passenger cars. After the large destruction during the second world war, the factory made a new beginning in 1949.
In 1965 the first four-axle 18.7m long passenger coach Bghwe was developed in Halberstadt, of which more than 3300 units were delivered by 1977. From 1978 to 1990 6000 26.4m long passenger coaches were built. Up to the year 2001 a total of
12000 vehicles
left the production halls.
In May of 2002 a further milestone was set through the
acquisition of the company by the Zeppenfeld industry group.
The services performed over past years show that the VIS GmbH offers the
full services
of a modern vehicle company.
